Roofing Service Areas Around Fort Wright, KY

We take roof calls in Fort Wright and the Northern Kentucky towns that border it. No matter the address, the visit opens with a hands-on inspection, close-up pictures of each problem spot and a straightforward account of why it happened, before we recommend repair, replacement or leaving it alone.

Where Our Crews Work

Covington, Park Hills, Fort Mitchell and Lakeside Park sit right next to Fort Wright, and we are on roofs there regularly, along with Erlanger, Elsmere and Edgewood to the south and west. Villa Hills is on our list too, as are Newport and Fort Thomas on the far side of the Licking River.

The service is the same in each town. We get on the roof and check the shingles, flashing, pipe boots, vents and gutters, and we feel for soft decking underfoot. Then we walk you through the photos. The answer might be roof repair, a full roof replacement, gutter work or siding, but you hear the findings first and the estimate after.

What Roofs Here Have in Common

  • Housing age and style

Northern Kentucky has a wide mix: older two-story homes with steep pitches, chimneys and sometimes two or three layers of shingles, postwar brick ranches with low-slope additions, and newer subdivisions with architectural shingles. Each ages differently. On older houses we look for stacked layers and spongy plank decking. On newer ones we check ridge vents and nail placement, because shortcuts there show up first.

  • Freeze and thaw

Winter temperatures swing above and below freezing, often in the same day. Water that slips under a lifted shingle tab or a cracked pipe boot freezes, expands and widens the gap. When attic heat melts snow higher on the roof, ice can form at the eaves and push water behind the drip edge. We check for popped nails, granule loss and staining at the eaves on every visit.

  • Spring and summer storms

Thunderstorms bring wind gusts that crease shingles and occasional hail that bruises them. A creased tab loses its seal strip and tends to blow off in the next storm. Our Storm Damage Repair page covers how we photograph damage so you can share it with your insurer. We explain what we see; the adjuster decides coverage.

  • Slopes and drainage

Plenty of lots here sit on a grade, so runoff often collects at one corner of the house. Undersized downspouts overflow, soak the fascia and splash back against siding. We check gutter pitch, outlet size and fascia condition as part of the roof visit.

  • Permits

Cities and counties in the area set their own rules on roof permits. Before a replacement we confirm what the building department for your address requires, pull the permit when one is needed and schedule any inspection, so the paperwork is settled before tear-off.
