Roofing and Exterior Work for Your Home

Most of our jobs start with one question: why is this happening. A stain on a bedroom ceiling might be a cracked pipe boot, lifted flashing at a chimney or condensation from a poorly vented attic, and each one gets a different fix. We do roof repair, full roof replacement, roof inspections and storm damage repair, along with gutters and siding, because water problems rarely stop at the shingles. Pick a service below to see how we handle it.

  • Brick ranch house with a charcoal shingle roof, a roofer on a ladder at the eave, a dump trailer of debris and shingle bundles on a tarp, beside older hillside homes

    Roof Replacement

Full tear-off roof replacement with the decking checked board by board, new flashing and ventilation, and a 10-year labor warranty on our work.

  • Roofer in a tool belt kneeling on a gray asphalt shingle roof beside a new pipe boot, with a bundle of shingles nearby and an aluminum ladder against the gutter of a brick house

    Roof Repair

Leaks, lifted shingles, failed flashing and cracked pipe boots found at the source, photographed, then repaired so the rest of your roof keeps doing its job.

  • Roofer in a safety harness on a ladder at the roof edge holding a clipboard, inspecting gray asphalt shingles and a pipe vent while a homeowner watches from the lawn

    Roof Inspections

A free, part-by-part check of your shingles, flashing, pipe boots, ventilation and decking, with photos and a plain explanation of each problem we spot.

  • Roofer in cap and gloves photographs wind-damaged shingles and exposed decking beside a blue tarp on a residential roof, with brick ranch homes behind

    Storm Damage Repair

Hail bruises, creased shingles and torn flashing found, photographed and repaired, with a plain report you can hand to your insurer.

  • Worker's hands using a cordless drill to fasten a white aluminum gutter along the eave of a brick house, with a downspout and ladder below

    Gutters

Continuous-length gutter installation, re-pitching and repair, with downspouts sized to your roof and the fascia behind them checked before we quote.

  • Worker on an aluminum ladder installing tan vinyl siding over white sheathing on a two-story home, with old siding pieces piled on the lawn below

    Siding

Vinyl, fiber cement and wood siding repaired or replaced, with soft sheathing, failed flashing and loose panels found and explained before any quote.

A Roofing Company That Explains Its Work

Roofing Fort Wright is built around one habit: look carefully, then talk plainly. Too many homeowners hear 'you need a new roof' from someone who never climbed a ladder. We get up there, document what we see, and give you enough information to make the call yourself.

Our work covers the parts of your home that keep water out, from the ridge cap down through the gutters and the siding below them. We name the parts we are replacing, explain why they failed, and keep the job site as tidy as we found it.

What You Can Expect From Us

Our job on a first visit is to figure out what is wrong, not to find a reason to sell you something. Here is what that looks like on your roof.

What we saw comes before a price

We walk the roof, get into the attic when it is reachable, and check decking, flashing, vents and gutters. You hear what we found before any number comes up.

Photos of the problem spots

Most homeowners never see their own roof up close. We photograph trouble areas, from creased shingle tabs to rusted step flashing, so you can judge the evidence yourself.

A straight repair-or-replace answer

If a roof has years left and the damage is local, we say so and quote the repair. When the granules are worn through, the mat is brittle and the leaks keep moving, we explain why patching would only buy a season or two.

Causes named in plain terms

We tell you what failed and why: exposed nail heads that rusted and backed out, valley metal installed without a proper lap, an attic with intake vents but no exhaust. Knowing the cause helps you keep it from coming back.

Your property protected

We cover landscaping near the drip line, keep the driveway clear for you, and run a magnet sweep for nails before we leave each day.

What Moves the Price of Roof Work

No two roofs cost the same, even on the same street. The price follows the size and shape of the roof, what is underneath the shingles and how much detail work the job needs. These are the factors we look at while we are on the roof and spell out line by line in your estimate.

Every estimate is free and written out item by item after we have been on your roof. If we find something unexpected once work begins, we stop, show you, and talk it through before going further.

Roof size and pitch
Square footage sets the material order. Steep pitches need roof jacks, harnesses and slower work, which adds labor time.
Layers to tear off
Each old layer that has to come off adds tear-off hours and fills more of the dumpster. Stripping two layers costs more than stripping one.
Decking condition
We cannot see every sheet of plywood or plank decking until the old roof is off. Soft or delaminated boards have to be replaced, and our estimate explains how any replacement would be priced before work starts.
Chimneys, skylights and vents
These openings are where most leaks begin, and each one gets step flashing, counterflashing or a new boot fitted on site. A roof with several of them takes longer and uses more metal than a plain gable roof.
Ventilation and ice protection
Correcting attic airflow with ridge vents or added intake, and laying ice and water shield at eaves and valleys, adds cost up front. In a region with hard freeze-thaw winters, it is often what keeps ice dams from pushing water under the shingles.
Material choice
Architectural asphalt shingles, upgraded underlayment and matching gutter or siding work all change the total. We lay out the options so you can compare them.

Questions Homeowners Ask Us

What happens during a free roof inspection?

We check the shingles for granule loss, cracking and lifted tabs, then look at flashing around chimneys, walls and vents. We check the gutters and, if there is safe access, the attic for water stains and ventilation problems. You get photos and a plain explanation of what we saw. There is no cost and no obligation.

How do you decide between repair and replacement?

We look at the age of the roof, how widespread the wear is and whether the decking is still solid. A few blown-off shingles or a failed pipe boot on an otherwise healthy roof is a repair. Brittle shingles, widespread granule loss and leaks in several places usually point to replacement, and we will show you the evidence either way.

Can you help with an insurance claim after a storm?

We document wind and hail damage with photos and notes you can share with your insurer, and we can meet the adjuster on the roof to point out what we found. We do not act as your adjuster or decide what your policy covers. We will explain how the process usually goes so you know what to expect.

What warranty comes with your work?

Our work carries a 10-year labor warranty. Shingle and material coverage comes from the manufacturer, and we will explain how that applies to the products on your roof.

How long does a roof replacement take?

Many single-family homes are finished in one to two days, depending on the size of the roof, the number of layers coming off and how much decking needs replacing. Weather can shift the schedule. We tell you before we start and keep you updated if anything changes.

Do you handle gutters and siding along with the roof?

Yes. Clogged or undersized gutters can send water back under the roof edge and down the walls, so we often look at both during the same visit. If siding is cracked, loose or letting water behind it, we include that in our report too.

Do you offer any discounts right now?

We have a current offer: Limited Time — $50 Off Your First Service Call. Mention it when you call and we will explain how it applies to your job.

How a Job Runs From the First Call

Here is the order things happen in, so nothing about the work on your home comes as a surprise.

  1. 1

You call, we set a time

Tell us what you have noticed, whether it is a leak, missing shingles or sagging gutters. We set up a free visit at a time that works for you.

  2. 2

    Roof check and photos

We check the roof surface, flashing, vents, gutters and, where accessible, the attic for stains, daylight and damp insulation. Then we go over the photos with you.

  3. 3

    Written results and estimate

You get the cause, the recommended fix and the cost of each part of the job in writing. If a smaller repair makes sense, that is what we quote.

  4. 4

    The work day

We protect the yard, tear off only what we can close up the same day, and replace any damaged decking before new underlayment goes down. We pull the permit when the job requires one.

  5. 5

Cleanup and a last look together

Debris goes in the dumpster and a rolling magnet passes over the lawn and driveway. Then we show you the new flashing, vents and drip edge, from the ground or in photos, so you know exactly what was installed.
